We will need a boxed yellow cake mix plus the things your particular cake calls for to bake it up! Then we will add vanilla pudding, milk, blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream!
That’s it! Just six ingredients stand between you and making this delicious cake mix recipe for the summer. It’s even red white and blue! How fun is that?!
How to make layered berry trifles:
Prepare your cake according to box directions. Once finished baking, set on a cooling rack to cool completely.
While your cake is baking, whisk together pudding mix and milk, set in the refrigerator to chill.
Chop strawberries into quarters.
Once the cake has cooled, assemble your mini trifles.
Add small cubes of cake to the bottom of your glass.
Layer with strawberries, then about ⅓ cup of pudding, and then blueberries. Add more layers however you like until the glass is full.
Top with whipped cream and additional strawberries or blueberries. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
How many does this recipe serve?
This recipe will prepare between 4 and 6 mini trifles. If you want to serve a crowd you can just double or even triple the recipe. It’s really easy and not any more difficult to do. I usually try and make only the amount we will eat at once or I wait to layer them up until we will be eating them.
You ca prepare everything in advance and then layer them when you are ready to serve and enjoy them. Baking three cakes at once doesn’t take any more time or energy than just one so feel free to double or triple the recipe, it really is easy and fun to prepare.
Looking for the best kitchen tools for making summer desserts?
If you are trying to pick out some of the best supplies to stock your kitchen for cake mix recipes and baking in general, these are some of our favorites and must have items.
I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are a must when doing cake mix recipes which can settle and become thin at lot easier than traditional cookie dough.
Of course mixing bowls, a mixer, spatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!
