Kitchen Essentials for Cake Mix Cookies:
If you are trying to pick out some of the best supplies to stock your kitchen for cake mix recipes and baking in general, these are some of our favorites and must have items.
I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are a must when doing cake mix recipes which can settle and become thin at lot easier than traditional cookie dough.
Of course mixing bowls, a mixer, spatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!
Here’s the ingredients you’ll need to make apple pie cookies at home:
This recipe starts with a boxed cake mix and some canned frosting / icing. You’ll also need some apple sauce and some apple pie filling.
That’s it. That’s the full list of ingredients. Of course you can find the amounts in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post but COME ON. How easy is that?! Just four simple ingredients that are all really easy to keep on hand.
If you ever have kids that run home and yell “I need a baked good for school tomorrow” now you know what recipe to reach for! I also really enjoy that I can make these in no time and have a sweet treat even during those busy weeknights.
How to make iced apple pie cookies:
The only thing less complicated than that list of ingredients is the instructions. Honestly you will be shocked that you didn’t try making cookies like this before. It’s such a simple way to turn a regular old boxed cake mix into something fabulous.
Preheat oven to 350
Mix ingredients together until combined. Do not over mix
Roll into 1.5 inch balls
Place onto a parchment lined baking tray
Bake for 7-9 minutes or until there are cracks on the top of cookies
Let cool on baking tray for 10 minutes
Spread icing on top of cookies
You can garnish with a thin slice of green apple if you like! It makes them look even more adorable but is totally unnecessary if you don’t want the extra hassle.
