2020 was the year we all learned to make banana bread, regular bread, bagels, and everything in between, right? I’ll bet in all those recipes you tried and mastered you didn’t realize there was a way to make banana bread with cake mix!

I’m going to show you the easiest way to make the most popular quick bread recipe. It’s moist, flavorful, and perfect for breakfast, snacks, brunch, and pretty much any time of day!

This pin shows the finished images of the banana bread with cake mix and the title is in the middle.

Try out this simple cake mix recipe. I know I say this a lot…but cake mixes really take the work out of baking. I know baking can be cathartic and sometimes I don’t mind spending the day following recipes and checking on the oven every few minutes.

Other times I just really want a simple and quick dessert. That is where cake mixes come in really handy. There’s nothing like being able to pull out a boxed cake mix and turn it into something unique.

Just because I want something easy doesn’t mean I want something boring…and to be fair, this banana bread uses less ingredients than a traditional cake mix!

Do I use the ingredients called for in the cake mix?

You might be wondering if you are supposed to use the ingriednets I’ll list for you below on their own, or if they’re in addition to what the box calls for…good question!

Sliced banana bread ready to eat.

The answer is mind blowing…you only need the ingredients I will list for you below. When making this banana bread with cake mix you can disregard the ingredients called for on the boxed cake mix. You won’t need them which will seem wild until you see how amazing this recipe turns out without them!

If you are trying to pick out some of the best supplies to stock your kitchen for cake mix recipes and baking in general, these are some of our favorites and must have items.

I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are a must when doing cake mix recipes which can settle and become thin at lot easier than traditional cookie dough.

Here we see the loaf of banana bread sliced and ready to eat.

Of course mixing bowls, a mixer, spatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!

What ingredients do I need for banana bread with cake mix?

This recipe for banana bread with cake mix uses just that…cake mix, a vanilla one, and bananas. You’ll need two bananas mashed and two sliced lengthwise. That’s four bananas total.

I usually use medium to over ripe bananas depending on what I have on hand. Remember if you want to ripen bananas fast you can put them in a paper bag! It helps trap the gases they give off which naturally ripens them.
