That’s it! Of course you can leave out the colored sugar if you want or use whatever sprinkles you have on hand.

Another thing to keep in mind when making these chocolate cherry cookies is that you can keep the cherries whole as I have or you can chop them up and include them in the batter.

Recipe for chocolate cherrie cookies:

It’s time to make these delicious chocolate cherry cookies! It’s a very easy process. If you don’t want to mess with wrapping the dough around the cherry you can always chop up the cherries and just mix them into the batter. Try and make sure they are drained very well in either case!

Preheat oven to 350F.

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs and oil together until completely combined.

Portion the dough into 1-Tablespoon sized scoops.

Flatten each scoop and place a cherry in the centre. Wrap the cookie dough around the cherry so that it is completely enclosed.

Place the sugar crystals in a small bowl and dip the cookie ball into the sugar crystals.

Place the cookie ball sugar-side up on the prepared baking mats.

Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before trying to remove to a cooling rack.

  • 20 Cherries can cut up or leave whole
  • 1/4 cup red sugar crystals optional
