You can serve these with cinnamon sticks for presentation but they don’t really do much of anything and you definitely can’t eat them so feel free to leave those out if you want.

Another thing to keep in mind is that these cupcakes can be prepared in advance if you like. It’s simple to whip them up a day or even two in advance without worrying about them getting weird or going stale.

Why should I use a cake mix to make these easy cupcakes?

One of the main reasons I like to start with a cake mix instead of making recipes fully from scratch is the fact that it’s easy.

If you don’t like to do a lot of work in the kitchen you’ll like being able to spice up a regular old cake mix without much effort. If you don’t have a lot of time you’ll love that using a boxed mix cuts down your preparation time too!

Another reason to use a boxed mix to make easy snickerdoodle cupcakes is so that you don’t have to drag out all the ingredients you’d need. Flour, sugar, baking powder, etc. All of that is in the mix already and we won’t prepare it according to the box so you’ll only need the items listed below to prep the mix, whatever kind / brand you have on hand is fine!

Ingredients needed for snickerdoodle cupcakes:

This recipe for snickerdoodle cupcakes uses just a handful of ingredients. You’ll need a yellow boxed cake mix, eggs, vanilla pudding, oil water, flour, cinnamon, icing, and cinnamon sugar.

If you want to be fancy you can also add in some cinnamon sticks for serving the cupcakes. As I mentioned above you don’t really need them for anything other than the cute way they look on top!

Kitchen essentials for making cake mix recipes:

If you are trying to pick out some of the best supplies to stock your kitchen for cake mix recipes and baking in general, these are some of our favorites and must have items.

I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are a must when doing cake mix recipes which can settle and become thin at lot easier than traditional cookie dough.

Of course mixing bowls, a mixer, spatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!

For cupcakes you’ll need cupcake pans, cupcake liners, and piping bags are also really handy to use for topping the finished cupcakes.
