I love to make these sugar cookie truffles to have on hand when I get a craving for something sweet. They’re very indulgent but just the right size to not overdo it. This recipe uses pre-made sugar cookies, you can use any sugar cookies you have on hand or make a batch of cake mix sugar cookies to use!

Using cake mix cookies or store-bought cookies to make truffles is easy and fun. The food processor does most of the work for us in this recipe. You’ll see how simple they are to make but they’re also fun to decorate and eat. If you have kids who like to work in the kitchen these truffles are a great recipe for them to help with!

Here’s what you’ll need to make these easy sugar cookie truffles:
There’s only five ingredients needed to make funfetti cake mix cookies truffles! Just a handful of simple ingredients that are easy to keep on hand. You’ll need sugar cookies, cream cheese, funfetti candy melts, funfetti sprinkles, and shortening.
The shortening is optional as are the sprinkles. I think the sprinkles are essential for cuteness factor but you can always leave those out if you don’t have them handy!

How to make Sugar Cookie truffles with cake mix:
This recipe is very easy to make. If you’ve never made truffles before this is a great recipe to get started with, even kids can help with this one!

Sugar Cookie cake mix truffles are easy to make in advance too! If you need a sweet treat too share or for an event or party, you can make these early without worry. These hold up well and can be refrigerated for several days before they are laid out to serve.

Grease two cookie sheets and set aside.
Place the sugar cookies and cream cheese in a food processor and combine until a dough forms.
Use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough into 1 Tablespoon-sized scoops.

Roll each scoop into a firm ball.
Place the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 25 seconds, stir, and reheat as needed.
If the candy melts are too stiff despite being properly melted, stir in the optional shortening.
Dip each sugar cookie ball in the melted candy coating and allow the excess candy to drip off.

Place each dipped sugar cookie truffle on the prepared cookie sheets.
Scoop the remaining candy melts into a piping bag. Make a small snip at the bottom and drizzle over the truffles.

Add sprinkles while the candy coating is still wet.
Allow candy coating to set fully before storing or serving, about 1 hour.
