- Oil: A nice canola oil or butter will work to make this recipe. Oil gives a clean, neutral base that lets the spices shine, while butter adds richness and a touch of indulgence.
- Ranch Seasoning Mix: Ranch dressing mix brings familiarity and depth, balancing the heat with creamy notes of dill, onion, and buttermilk powder. The ranch powder should be applied in an even layer.
- Red Pepper Flakes: It adds a bold, lingering spice that builds with each bite. You can dial this up or down depending on your audience.
- Saltine Crackers: Saltines are sturdy, salty, and absorbent. Perfect for soaking up the seasoned oil and crisping beautifully in the oven.

Common Questions About This Spicy Crackers Recipe
No flipping required! These crackers bake evenly without needing to be turned. Just spread them in a single layer and let the oven do the work. The oil and seasoning soak in beautifully, and the low-and-slow bake helps everything crisp up without fuss. One less step = one more reason to love this recipe.
Olive oil adds a slightly fruitier, more pronounced flavor. Great if you want a gourmet twist, but it may mellow the heat a bit. Avocado oil is a fantastic neutral option with a high smoke point—perfect for baking and keeping the crackers crisp. Avoid oils that are too thick or strongly flavored (like sesame or coconut), as they can overpower the seasoning blend.

Christina’s Notes
• Ranch mix matters: Use a high-quality ranch seasoning or make your own with dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and buttermilk powder for a cleaner taste.
• Oil infusion: Canola or vegetable oil works best—it’s neutral and helps the seasoning cling. Avoid olive oil, which can overpower the spice blend. Party-ready: Serve with pimento cheese, smoked sausage slices, or creamy dips for a Southern-style snack board.
