Why use cake mix to make cookies?
The main reason I like to use cake mix to make cookies is that it’s easier. You don’t have to measure out so many ingredients, the mixing process is pretty much dump and go!
Another reason is that I can make the recipes quickly. It’s a simple process so I can serve up or share some homemade cookies without the stress of a complicated recipe.
Finally, the apple cinnamon cookies come out with a great cake-like texture. It’s a perfect way to make soft, moist, delicious cookies that are still easy to whip up.
Kitchen Essentials for Cake Mix Cookies:
If you are trying to pick out some of the best supplies to stock your kitchen for cake mix recipes and baking in general, these are some of our favorites and must have items.
I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are a must when doing cake mix recipes which can settle and become thin at lot easier than traditional cookie dough.
Of course mixing bowls, a mixer, spatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!
Ingredients needed for apple cinnamon cookies:
For the cookies themselves we’ll need a vanilla cake mix, eggs, apple pie filling, oil, and cinnamon. For the glaze a bit of milk, cinnamon, and some icing sugar (powdered sugar).
That’s it! There’s not much going on with this simple recipe…which makes it all the more exciting that the final result is so tasty.
How to make apple pie cookies with cake mix:
This recipe is very simple. Like most of my recipes we’re going for easy here, not complicated or time consuming. It would defeat the purpose of starting off with a cake mix if we just complicate the recipe with unnecessary steps, right?!
Preheat oven to 350
Mix ingredients together until combined. Do not over mix
Roll into 1.5 inch balls
Place onto a parchment lined baking tray
Bake for 7-9 minutes or until there are cracks on the top of cookies
Let cool on baking tray for 10 minutes
Mix glaze and drizzle over cookies
Then you are ready to enjoy these tasty cookies. I usually make a double batch so that there’s plenty to share.
