Pre heat oven to 425°F. In small bowl, stir together Topping ingredients; set aside.
In medium bowl, stir Biscuit ingredients until soft dough forms. Drop dough by 8 spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 16 to 18 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown. Immediately brush hot biscuits with Topping.
Notes
Use cold ingredients: Keep your butter, cheese, and even your milk cold. This helps create steam pockets during baking, giving the biscuits a tender, flaky texture.
Grate your own cheddar: Pre-shredded cheese often contains anti-caking agents that can affect melt and texture. Freshly grated sharp cheddar melts better and adds richer flavor. • Don’t overmix: Stir just until the dough comes together. Overmixing activates gluten, which can make biscuits tough instead of tender. • Chill before baking: After shaping, chill the biscuits for 10–15 minutes. This helps them hold their shape and improves rise. • Brush with butter: A quick swipe of melted butter after baking adds shine and richness. For extra flavor, mix in a pinch of Old Bay or garlic powder. • Bake on parchment: It prevents sticking and promotes even browning without over-crisping the bottoms.
